Wooden Rattle

Rattles such as this were once commonplace at football matches, as supporters would spin them to produce a loud noise to encourage their team by holding the handle and spinning the rattle around it; the rattle makes a distinctive clicking noise.  

Previously, wooden rattles were used during the Second World War as 'Gas Rattles'. A crucial tool used by air raid wardens; the rattle allowed them to raise the alarm that poisonous gas was spreading through the air.
